No one roots for catastrophes. Well, at least I don’t think many people root for them. I, for one, am just the kind of girl who seeks the proverbial silver lining in such situations. For instance, the photo above hasn’t been adjusted to produce its brilliant red color; rather, there was an acid leak in an abandoned chemical plant in eastern China, causing toxic fumes to waft through the city. After a couple hours, authorities gained control of the problem (no casualties were reported). In the meantime, we were given a glimpse of life as it would appear through post-apocalyptic rose colored glasses.
