The Arasta mosque was built in the 16th century and was considered to be a fine example of Ottoman architecture.
Sadly, in 1963 all but the minaret was demolished by the Yugoslavian government in the name of “modernization.” The minaret alone still stands in the open-air museum of Prizren, Kosovo.
Prizren is considered to be an example of the melting pot of culture of the region. The minaret is unusual as it has a six-pointed star or seal of Solomon at the top to ward away demons.
