Kelly Slater Statue
A tribute to a hometown hero and surfing legend.
Sculpted in bronze by Cocoa Beach artist Tasha Drazich and located at the north end of Downtown Cocoa Beach, where A1A splits, the Kelly Slater statue honors Florida’s Space Coast hometown hero. Slater grew up in Cocoa Beach and learned to surf all along the Space Coast.
Slater has won 11 world titles and is a point of pride in the Space Coast community. Slater is widely regarded as the greatest professional surfer of all time and holds 56 Championship Tour victories. Slater is also the oldest surfer still active in the World Surf League and won his eighth title at age 49.
However, the statue is located along a highway median, not at the beach. There is a lot of talk locally to move the statue to somewhere with a crosswalk. There is parking on either side in parking lots, but visitors have to cross a two-lane highway.
