National Museum of Ship Models and Sea History
An amazing collection of scale model ships.
Located in Sadorus, Illinois the National Museum of Ship Models and Sea History is a museum dedicated to ship models and the critical role that ships have played throughout the history and development of the modern world.
The museum aims to preserve nautical heritage and is home to dozens of exhibits spanning different periods throughout maritime history. More than 250 intricately crafted ship models and replicas are on display, including a half-inch Chinese riverboat carved into a walnut, and a 27-foot-long model of the Queen Mary, made entirely from toothpicks.
The models are arranged in groups reflecting periods of history, from Viking ships to modern submarines, and includes items featured in famous Hollywood movies such as Ben Hur, Tugboat Annie, and Cleopatra.
