Pegasus Small World Toy Museum
Museum featuring strange and enchanting toys of the past.
Billed as an “enchanted world of miniatures,” the Pegasus Small World Toy Museum features a vast collection of toys dating all the way back from 1890. Established in 1962 with a tin toy collection 4,000 items strong, the museum has one of the most rare collections in Switzerland.
Teddy bear lovers take note: 700 Steiff teddy bears are on prominent display among the dozens of glass cases. At the press of a button guests can also see extensive model train set-ups in action and a somewhat bizarre silver mining operation with stuffed animals.
A family-run museum, Pegasus Small World is chock full of strange toys with an off-kilter charm that only a Swiss museum could have. A tiny wooden replica of Noah’s Ark animals? A six-foot-tall Russian nesting doll? Check and check.
The museum features special exhibitions twice a year. There is also a museum shop that has many hard-to-find toy parts, antiques, and model cars, as well as a specialist for any toy repairs or refurbishments.
