The Aquarium Grotto Garden

A strange aquarium with stuffed fish, and almost no water for them to swim in.

The aquarium grotto garden is located in a gorgeous garden on the island Zamalek, in the Nile river in the middle of Cairo.

The garden has beautiful caves that once contained several aquariums with living fish swimming in the clear blue water. For what was most likely economic reasons, they stopped maintaining the aquariums and all that was left is the green park with caves, trees and empty tanks with stuffed fish and fish preserved in glass.

The park is mostly used as a quiet meeting place for young couples, away from noisy Cairo and their parents.
