Ruvani de Silva
Ruvani de Silva (she/her) is a travel-loving beverage and food writer specialising in beer, spirits and all things Texan. A British Sri Lankan living in Austin, Texas, Ruvani’s bylines include Good Beer Hunting, VinePair, Texas Highways, Texas Monthly, Pellicle, Cuisine Noir, Hop Culture, Houston Chron and Beer is for Everyone, and she has covered subjects ranging from fire-brewing and foraged yeast to Texan Chartreuse and Texan Jersey milk products. Ruvani is also a vocal advocate for diversity, equality and inclusion, particularly in the beer industry, and much of her work highlights and showcases underrepresented groups and diversity-forward initiatives.
Ruvani has taken part in a wide range of beer conferences and events, including the Smithsonian Food History Weekend’s Last Call Panel, the Chicago Brewseum Beer History Summit, where she chaired the first all-South Asian panel at a US beer event, and the Women’s International Beer Summit. Ruvani has been recognised as one of Good Beer Hunting's 2021 Signifiers and Highly Commended by the British Guild of Beer Writers in their 2021 Awards Best Beer Writer, National Media category. She is also the founder of #SouthAsianBeerClub, an online space where beer lovers and industry professionals of South Asian heritage can connect.
